Have you opened my email yet ?

As a digital marketer we have to be constantly finding solutions to problems that we can solve with technology, offer the service for free in order to generate some traffic and then utilize that new relationship to start communicating with the visitors.

On these terms, I believe this is a great digital marketing idea to solve a common problem.

The problem : Have you opened my email yet ?spypig

One of the biggest complaints I have about email is that I don’t really know when my important emails have been read by the recipient. Now I can find if “You Have already opened my email…”

The solution: SpyPig

SpyPig is a simple email tracking system that sends you a notification email as soon as the recipient opens and reads your message.

It works with virtually all modern email programs: Outlook, Eudora, Yahoo Email, Gmail, Hotmail, AOL Email, etc

.

The business model: Traffic = Advertising Revenue

SpyPig is FREE! and according to the company website there is no spam, no virus, no adware. You can use it as often as you like, and there’s apparently no catch, except that when they send you the confirmation email that your recipient has opened your email there are some ads showing on that confirmation email, they don’t bother me…

The service is simple and effective and probably there is still a couple of things that will make the service much better

  • You need to create a pixel everytime that you then have to copy and paste into every email you want to track, and in order to do this you have to go the SpyPig website (Where you will be exposed to more advertising)
  • Both users have to be using HTML based browsers (With graphics viewing activated)
  • It doesn’t work when your recipient reads the email on a Blackberry or on a mobile phone

But the rest seems to be great, as well as simple to use and free.

In my humble opinion, great tool, fantastic digital marketing idea.
